HOMOCYSTEINE…elevated…...CAUSES
Homocysteine can build up for several reasons:
1. The MTHFR enzyme isn't making enough L-Methyl Folate.
2. The Methionine Synthase Enzyme is mutated [MTRR/MTR], or blocked by insufficient B12, or insufficient ZINC, blocked by Alcohol, too much Nitric Oxide, or Lead.
3. The Cystathionine Beta Synthase [CBS] enzyme slowed is down by a SNP, or slowed down by insufficient Vitamin B6 [P5P].
4. The BetaineHomocysteineMethyl Transferase [BHMT] enzyme is slowed down by a snp or lack of enough TrimethylGlycine [TMG/Betaine]
5. S-Adenyl Homocysteine Hydrolase [SAHH] cannot work in the reverse direction because of a SNP.
